| The training of the future breeding boar must start early in its life in order to .stimulate libido and semen production. The goal is to get a semen collection as similar as possible to a natural mating. |

1.- Factors that influence the onset of puberty |
| Before starting the training for semen collection with a dummy, we must take into account age and boar development of the , as the principal factors of influence on the onset of puberty, when the ability of production of mature spermatozoa starts. In general, around 6 months of age, we can get semen from boars using a dummy, although this can vary with libido that is different among breeds.Breeding males with females allow a correct development of libido. |
| 2.- Housing and relationship with other boars |
| We must choose a suitable housing regarding to temperature, humidity, ventilation and handling conditions that we have. Flooring with straw is good when it is 40 cm high, but this means more work to change it. If slat is used, the bars must be as wide and not slipping as to make them comfortable to the boar. The floor must be kept clean and dry in order to prevent infections and falls. The fences boar pens made with bars allow the boars to see, smell and hear each other, which help them to be stimulated. |
