The dummy must be moved as a sow in heat, stopping it when the boar hit it with nose, mimicking the standing reflex of a sow in heat. If necessary, a sow in heat can be used. Semen collection must be performed without hurry, allowing that ejaculation process finishes, which can last from 5 to 20 minutes. During all this period hand pressure on the penis must be maintained. It is necessary to take into account the sigmoid shape of the penis, which is unpacked in the outside. This makes necessary to accompany the movement of the penis and never force it. |

| Usually, a boar with a good libido will start to be collected on the dummy in one week. After 3 or 4 semen collections in its pen with the mobile dummy, we can change to the semen collection pen with a fixed dummy. Since this moment, semen collection will be performed at a rate of one per week, and progressively to three times every two weeks being the boar 1 year old. The mobile dummy must have a pyramidal-shaped base in order to avoid accidents at the time of collection. The semen collection pen must be a quiet room without distractions for the boar. The floor should be not slippery and easy to clean and disinfect. |
