Different containers are available to transport semen at 15ºC are: bottles, blisters and tubes, and in  case of frozen semen, straws of 0.5 ml or maxi-straws of 5 ml are used.

The containers used to transport the semen doses vary from polystyrene, where the temperature of 15ºC can be maintained with tubes of glacial acetic acid, to portable fridges¿? with or without car connection. For the transport of frozen semen, liquid nitrogen flask of different sizes are used.

In the case of liquid semen, there are two possible situations:

- Semen recently extended for using it rigth after collection at the same farm: we need a transport box in order to maintain the temperature of the prepared doses (35º-37ºC).

- Semen extended for transporting at 15ºC to other farms for its we should use polystyrene boxes with tubes of glacial acetic acid during summer or without them in winter. The use of a transport box connected to the car guarantees a correct temperature in every season of the year.

Every semen dose must be correctly identified during transport.
