CHARACTERISTICS
EoBOS is an extender for boar sperm. Its balanced formula ensures physic-chemical control of the medium, creating the conditions necessary for optimum maintenance of sperm cells.
PROPERTIES
In the appropriate working conditions of an insemination centre, the extender ensures the preservation of boar sperm for a period of 4 - 5 days when kept at 15ºC. This facilitates the work of the centre by allowing maximum use to be made of donor boars and optimum reproductive results to be obtained.
A source of energy for sperm cells based on an easy intake of monosaccharides, allowing the maintenance of motility and maximum performance.
A buffering action that maintains pH within the physiological range of the semen, safeguarding the integrity of sperm cells and that of the extracellular medium and allowing the normal function of both.
A chelating action. Certain ions can have a negative influence on cellular integrity and can provoke precipitation of sperm or bring about a premature acrosome reaction. In sperm preservation these ions must be neutralised by the diluent.
An appropriate osmotic pressure for sperm cells and a protective effect on cell membranes, provided by saline components and other elements of the extender.
Total safety for both animal and its environment. EoBOS is a cell culture medium that maintains the physiological conditions required for preservation of sperm using compounds harmless for the sow, farm staff or insemination laboratory equipment.
