...Once
the boar has mounted the dummy, we must empty the prepucial diverticulum
where rests of urine and semen are retained since they provide a good
medium for bacterial contamination. Then, we have to allow the boar
to warm-up and make the typical movements until the penis goes
out. Next, we enhance stimulation by pressing with our fingers
adapted to the penis corkscrew. This is the most sensible area.
Therefore, pressure must be enough to stimulate but avoiding
damage, which would inhibit boar libido.
|
| ...In
order to get the penis completely out , the inner sigmoidal curve
of the penis must be undone. For this purpose, we will accompany
penis movements, helping it to maintain out of the prepuce, always
avoiding damage. Once the penis is completely out of the prepuce,
we only have to grasp it firmly and to stimulate several times by pressing
the corkscrew area in order to provoke ejaculation. Hand position is very important to get a suitable stimulation
and also to avoid contact with semen and its contamination.
hand must be placed above penis corkscrew, leaving free penis tip to allow semen
to fall directly into the collection
vessel. If we place our hand below the penis corkscrew there will
have more chances of contact with the semen.
|
| ...Once
the penis is firmly grasped by the gloved hand, the boar will start
to ejaculate. four fractions can be seen in the ejaculate. First, there
is the prespermatic fraction, transparent, with the function of lubricating
the uretra. This is a very contaminated fraction and it must not be
collected. Next, the sperm rich fraction is ejaculated with a milky
colour. This is the spermatozoa richest fraction and it must be
collected for artificial insemination. The boar ejaculates approximately
a volume of 300 ml of semen and 80 to 150 ml of it re from the
sperm rich fraction. |
