Then, the boar ejaculates the postspermatic fraction, very poor in spermatozoa. It comes from the accessory sexual glands and its function is to give volume to the ejaculate and nutrients to spermatozoa. It is grey coloured and is clearer than the sperm rich fraction. It is not usually collected to make semen doses. During the ejaculation process, the sperm rich fraction and the postspermatic fraction go out alternatively, so we must be ready to move the collection vessel when the colour of the ejaculate becomes greyish.

...Finally, along all the ejaculation process and mainly in the last period, the gel fraction is produced, that seems like a rice grain puree. Its physiological function is to block the uterine cervix in order to avoid semen losses by reflux during natural breeding. This gel favour spermatozoa to clump between them. For this reason we must discard it by placing a gauze on top of the collecting vessel as a filter. Once the boar has finished ejaculation, we note that the penis becomes flabby and the boar itself gets off the dummy.

COLLECTION MATERIAL Thermo-insulated collection vessel, to preserve a temperature of 37ºC. Glass vessel of 300 ml or plastic bag. Gauze or filter  paper Advisable: extender at 37ºC into the vessel or bag in order to avoid semen clump.
